SHRM Job Position Description 

Job Title:       Field Services Director, Southwest Central Region
Department:  Member Relations
Reports To:    Director, Western Region
FLSA Status:  Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY

The Field Services Director will plan, manage, administer and oversee the fostering and promoting of a positive image of and appreciation for individual memberships, programs and services for SHRM in one of five domestic geographic regions of the Society. The incumbent, in receiving general direction from the SHRM Director, Eastern/Western Region, will promote the recruitment and retention of SHRM national members, with particular emphasis placed on current chapter members and/or those members who may have interest in joining SHRM and/or an affiliated chapter (LMOs, At-Large members and unaffiliated professionals). He/she will also function as a liaison with chapters, state councils and volunteer leaders in the region to achieve the strategic objectives of SHRM, and will promote and administer SHRM’s policies, operating procedures, programs and services. This individual will have primary accountability for managing chapter and state council relationships.

This position is based in the southwest central region of the U.S. (Kansas, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah).   The incumbent will work from a home based office. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college/university or equivalent work experience desired.   Master’s Degree preferred.

Three years of professional experience in a human resource management position strongly preferred.

Certification as Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) is highly desirable. If candidate is not certified, must commit to taking certification exam by first anniversary in position.

Experience with volunteer leadership preferred.

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Should be available for extensive travel (up to 50%)
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Demonstrated public speaking/presentation skills
  • Computer/technology skills, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite preferred
  • Responsible for maintenance of a home office
